If you have watched Ghost Adventures, you are probably aware of a little piece of technology called the Kinect. While the Ghost Seekers of CNY have not tried out this piece of equipment yet, we thought we would do some research on this latest paranormal item and share it with all you Paranormal Groupies!
Bill Chappell is known for his work on The Possessed (2009), Ghost Adventures (2008) and Always Looking North: The Carroll County, Georgia Confederate Monument (2010). However, he is now known for his work with the Kinect. Chappell created many other paranormal technologies such as; the Ovilus, EM Pump, and the Video Ovilus.
Kinect (codenamed Project Natal during development) is a line of motion sensing input devices by Microsoft for Xbox 360 and Xbox One video game consoles and Windows PCs. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral, it enables users to control and interact with their console/computer without the need for a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands. Chappell has taken the body movement recognition of the Kinect and modified it to pick up on what people believe to be spirits.
What you will see whilst using the Kinect modified by Chappell is it will shine multiple lasers in the projected direction. If you place a person in front of these lasers, on the screen, you will see a skeletal, stick-figure, type embodiment of that person and their movements. This device will also be able to measure the data needed to understand how tall the person is or how far they are from the sensor.
This piece of technology is great for a paranormal investigator to use in order to connect that bridge between what is being heard and sensed to what is tangibly visible to the human eye.
After our research, we, unfortunately, were not able to find out where to purchase this item, but if we do we will be sure to inform our fellow Paranormal Groupies through our Facebook Page.
